You and a group of your friends are returning from a long trading journey, bearing gold and magical artifacts. A group of bandits are blocking a bridge necessary to get home. To get across, they say you must either forfeit:

  • All your gold
  • All your artifacts
  • Your lives

What do you do?

Forfeit the gold. Money means more to them than to me.
Forfeit the gold. They’ll let us pass if we give it to them, they don’t want to resort to violence.
Forfeit the artifacts. Magic is worth more than gold, they’ll let us pass for sure.
Forfeit the artifacts. Gold is worth more than magic gizmos.
Challenge them to a duel to earn right of passage.
Feign surrendering your goods, then ambush them.
Invite them to join your caravan as bodyguards and earn a share of the profits.
Attack them head-on using the magical artifacts and your own power. Take no prisoners.

You are taking a standardized test which will impact your standing in the school’s academic rankings. The top 10% of students get extra privileges, including extra food. Your best friend is sitting next to you by chance, and they are responsible for providing for their family at the orphanage. You have made the top 10% every time you’ve taken these tests, your friend barely reaches the 50th percentile. During the mid-test break, they subtly ask you to cheat for them. If you are caught cheating, both of you will be expelled.

Do you:

Allow them to copy your answers by viewing your paper during the exam.
Refuse their offer, but promise them your extra food if you make top 10%.
Refuse their offer. You cannot afford to be expelled, and neither can they.
Explain you will tap out answers to the questions using your pencil, and not chance them looking at your paper. You provide mostly correct answers, but deliberately cause them to miss a few to keep the lie believable.
Refuse their offer, but promise them you will help them study for the next exam.
Enchant their pencil, making all questions have 2 answers instead of 4. One of the two answers is always the right one. They must make the final answer themselves, but you will help them get there.
Refuse their offer, but promise them you will intimidate the exam proctor into changing their grade.
Refuse their offer. Later, you will speak to the headmaster about your friend’s situation privately- no student should have to go hungry.
