An anonymous letter was sent to a prominent Catholic nobleman, Lord Monteagle, warning him to stay away from the opening of parliament. Suspecting danger, he passed it on to the authorities.

The rest were arrested and brought to London. Of the original 13 conspirators 8 were brought to trial. They were all found guilty of High Treason and sentenced to death by being hanged, drawn and quartered. But did this include Guy Fawkes..?

Fawkes was sentenced to this death but despite his weakened state from torture, jumped from the gallows on the way to his execution, breaking his neck and dying before he suffered his fate.
