The Vioxx recall in 2004 was probably the largest drug recall of all time. 
 
Vioxx was a drug for rheumatoid arthritis made by X 
 
Before the recall, X’s marketing campaign for Vioxx was massive!! X spent more on advertising Vioxx than PepsiCo did for Pepsi. It was a blockbuster product for X, and one of the most widely prescribed drugs in 2003.
