Take an Inside Out Look at Yourself

During a team meeting, one of your team members has their headphones on while you are trying to make a game plan. How do you talk to them about listening to music when you are trying to figure out the plan?

Think "Whatever" and blow it off?

Yell, "LISTEN TO THE WORDS FROM MY MOUTH!!!"

Don't do anything because they are doing more than you are.

You ask them, "Hey, can you use only one? We are at a team meeting."

Ask, "How about we listen to music once we have everything figured out?"

The day before a HUGE project is due, you find out a member of your team who has an awful memory and hasn't done their part yet has had a broken phone. You finally find them and need to address that the project is due soon and they need to do their work. What do you say to them?

It doesn't even matter.

"I'm just going to do your part for you."

"Do what you want, you're probably in the right."

"How do you feel about me helping you out?"

"I have faith that you can do it! We all did our part to help the greater cause!"

Two members of your team are arguing about where to go for a team meeting. One wants Starbucks while the other wants Applebees. How do you help figure out where to go?

Let them handle it themselves, they are adults.

"Stop arguing! We are going to McDonalds!"

"They are both fine. I don't care."

"How about we go to both for a little?"

"Why don't we do one today and then the other another day? YAY TEAM!"

The quiet member of your team is finally trying to speak up! The loud and outgoing member is speaking over them trying to voice their opinion. How do you handle this?

You verbally say, "Whatever," and play on your phone.

"You both shut up and listen to me..."

You let them both talk and figure it out.

"Why don't we listen to *Quiet Member's Name* first and then *Loud and Outgoing Member's Name* second to combine the ideas?"

"Let's listen to both and make the best idea EVER!"

Your team is starting to get off topic and the project is due TOMORROW! What do you say to get everyone back on topic?

What do you mean stop it? I'm causing it.

"SHUT UP AND WORK!"

You do your own work while everyone else talks.

"How about we get back on topic now and talk about whatever later?"

"Let's all do our part to make this the best project ever!"
