"Oh your hair is different."

When you first met your friend asked where you're from. When you said "From here", their response was:

"Yeah, but like, originally?"

"Oh. I went to Senegal on holiday once." *stares at you, waiting for you to say something about Africa*.

"Nice, which city/suburb?"

"Oh, no way! I thought..."

At the dinner table when your friend is a guest, they say:

"Wow, you guys chew/slurp/eat/drink loudly."

"Is this like mystery meat?"

"Oh interesting, what spice is that?"

"Can I have some more please?"

Your friend hears someone else say something racist. They:

Laugh.

Don't even seem to notice.

Shake their head and give you a sympathizing look.

Say "Excuse me, sir, your xenophobia is showing."

Your friend has never dated a person of another race. You point this out. What's their reaction?

"Oh, I'm just not attracted to ______."

"Yeah, so?"

"Well, I don't know many, so...."

"Hm, I should change that. Can you hook me up?"

On the bus two people are speaking Arabic to each other. Your friend says...

"Well that's creepy..."

Nothing. Just stares.

"I wish I could speak another language."

"That language is so cool!"
