Basic GD&T Exercise 2
What is Part Feature?
It is an imaginary plane or axis.
It is a Physical portion of part which we can feel and touch
It is associated with CAD object
Derived from actual surface
Why Features are important in GD&T?
As per rule no 1 in ASME Y14.5M
GD&T controls are only applied to Part features
As we can feel and touch them
As per ISO Norms
What care must be taken while specifying TED (Basic) Dimensions?
Should be indicated by Plus minus tolerances
TEDs must be accompanied by geometric tolerance to specify how much tolerance the part feature may have.
Can be indicated as nominal values
No special care required
