Peds Motor Development

Ulnar grasp, wrist flexion, thumb abduction & supination. Increased Landau, increased head righting. Extended arm WB in prone with chest elevated. Forearm weight shift. In supine, reaches hands to tummy, feet to mouth, rolls to sidelying. No head lag with pull to sit; abdominals active; Sits with forward support, good head control; Bounces in supported stand reaches for toy, transfers to each hand

Superior pincer grasp to pick up a raisin. Can use fine motor skills with arms in sitting. Lowers self from standing.

Radial grasp; In prone, weight shift on extended arms; In supine, reaches for toy, transfers to each hand; Rolls supine to prone; Lifts head independently from supine; Takes full weight on legs in supported stand; Bounces

Long sits; side sits; demonstrates controlled rotation in sit; Utilizes kneel, ½ kneel more frequently; Stands alone with wide base of support; Cruises

Thumb more abducted in reach; Grasp primitive; Protective extension is present in upper extremities; Assumes quadruped and rocks; pivots in prone; Assumes sit from quadruped; Trunk rotation in sitting; Hands free; Likes to play in sidelying; Pulls self to standing.

Climbs stairs holding on; Throws ball but doesn't catch well.

Hopping; Skipping

Demonstrates strong ATNR; palmar grasp reflex present; head righting is beginning; elevates head to 45 degrees in prone; head rarely in midline in supine; exhibits random “swiping”; tries to assist with pull to sit.

Critical month) Primitive reflexes decreasing, postural reactions increasing. Wrist extension seen; very symmetrical due to decreasing ATNR; In prone, head up in midline with forearm propping; chest lifted; begins weight shifting; Landau beginning; baby “swims”, then reassumes forearm propping; In supine, head is in midline, hands and eyes to knees; hands together in space; rolls to side; assumes sidelying; pull to sit show head in midline with some abdominal activity(abdominals will form link between pelvic and shoulder girdles for symmetry).

Clumsy release in hands; Inferior pinch; Sitting is most functional position; Creeping is primary means of locomotion; Kneels; Pulls to stand through ½ kneel; Walks with two hands held or a push toy established to pick up a raisin; Can use fine motor skills with arms in sitting; Lowers self from stand

Runs; Walks up and down steps alone.

Grasp reflex changing to voluntary grasp but cannot release; increased midline orientation of head; ATNR decreasing; in prone, head to 90 degrees and prop on elbows; in supine, head held close to midline; upper extremities come together on chest.

Astasis: will not bear weight on lower extremities (positive support has been integrated): hands predominantly fisted.

Jumping.

Walks unassisted; Primitive upper extremity positioning.

Controlled release of objects; Equilibrium reactions present in all positions except stand; May.

Grasps with fingertips; Begins thumb opposition; Equilibrium reactions in sitting to replace protective righting reactions; Creeps on all 4's; Pulls to stand through kneel, ½ kneel; Rotates trunk over lower extremities in stand; Cruises furniture sideways.
