Once there was a merchant traveling through the woods. His wheel broke, and he was greatly stressed. Fortunately, a hunter with his dog came by. The hunter offered to stay with the cart while the merchant went to get a replacement wheel for his cart. The merchant was gone for some time, and the hunter grew worried for his ailing mother. He instructed the dog to watch the cart. When the merchant came back, he was pleased to see the cart so guarded, and so gave a coin to the dog to carry home to his master. When the dog came home with the coin in his mouth, however, the hunter flew into a rage. "I told you to watch the cart. And what did you do, you stole from it!" So the hunter killed the dog.
