Bairnsdale Scout Group currently have the opportunity to apply for two grants for major facility upgrades. One grant is valued at $50,000, the other valued at $20,000. Neither grant require co-contributions. Please rate on a scale of 1-5 how important you feel the following hall upgrades are. 1 = not at all important 5 = extremely important. A rough sketch of the hall floor plan has been attached for your reference. It is NOT to scale!!

Upgrade adult toilet: Remove and replace existing Adult toilet/urinal cubicles with 2 single toilets.

Is there something different we can do with this space instead? Eg extend leaders office and have one single adult toilet in adddtion to disabled toilet upgrade. (Comment at Question 12)

Renovate existing "disabled access" toilet to a combined universally accessible (disabled) shower/toilet room.

This will provide a second separate shower/toilet as recommended by Scouts Victoria Hall guidelines. It has been proposed that it can be also accessed by members of the Guides Association when required and increase appeal for overnight hall hire.

Renovation would also include paving pathway between yards. While improving accessiblility for individuals using mobility aids, it will also be easier to wheel items such as BBQ's into back yard.

Upgrade backyard fire pit area.

Proposals have included

installing a second gate in front of trailer shed so trailer does not need to be backed around 'dogleg' or moved by hand,
building undercover gazebo for paved BBQ area,
installation of fire hose reel,
relocation of firepit/more seating to enable more youth members to fit around fire.

Venturer den/meeting room upgrade

replace flooring, tables and chairs,
install wall mounted TV for training and video calls, LEADERBUILD presentations, adult training, youth slide shows/online learning eg online modules designed for youth to prepare for OAS activities as small group activities etc
potentially install quality video call hardware - quoted $1000+

Any other suggestions or comments?

A previous project proposal was to renovate the back of the hall from the leaders office down to the Glass door end of the hall - replacing existing facilities with un upgraded leaders office with better storage, single adult toilet, universal accessible (disabled) combined toilet/shower room and a chill out area (clear windows to reduce noise but maintain visability). Comments?
