Does the student have a good work ethic?

Arm Reach: Does the student have shorter, average, or longer arms?

How much weight do you think your child can comfortably hold?

How coordinated is the student, especially with his/her arms, hands, and fingers?

Does the student have an overbite? overbite-overlapping of the bottom teeth by the upper.

Lip Size: Does the student have small, medium, or large lips? This is important because the mouthpiece of the french horn is smaller than the trumpet mouthpiece which is smaller than the trombone/baritone mouthpiece which is smaller than the tuba mouthpiece.

Does the student have full or thin lips?

Does the student have a teardrop on the top lip?

Which picture best describes the area between the nose and the top lip?

After watching the previous video, can the student buzz his/her lips as displayed in the video. Make sure the student is buzzing rather than humming.

There are certain instruments that are in high demand for college scholarship purposes (oboe, bassoon, french horn, tuba). Is the student interested in any of these?

Being a percussionist requires performance on many instruments and requires someone who is able to manage time well. There will also be a short rhythm test with the band director before being assigned to the percussion section. As a result of the multiple instruments, the student must practice twice as much as all other band members. Would your student be willing to put in the extra work required to be successful as a percussionist?
