Please watch the following video demonstration and have the SOP (SOPDRG006S) to hand before starting this assessment.

What MUST you ask the donor prior to taking a breath sample?
Have they smoked, eaten, chewed gum or used mouthwash in the last 15 minutes?
When was the last time the consumed alcohol?
If “Low Flow” appears on the breathalyser screen, what has happened and how should you proceed?
The donor has not provided a sufficient amount of breath sample. Reset the device and advise the donor to blow harder for longer
The donor has blown too hard in to the breathalyser. Reset the device and ask the donor to provide a really shallow breath
If the result is greater than 0ug/100ml how would you proceed?
Just record the result
Take a second breath sample and call Crystal Health Group immediately if the final result is greater than zero.
Advise the donor that they have failed the test and end the sample collection
How long should be left between performing each breath sample from the same donor?
Take the next breath sample immediately

If the donor refuses to provide a breath sample, what MUST you do?
Do nothing, simply proceed with the appointment as normal.
Complete the Non-conformity section of the collection form. Do not proceed with the sample collection and call Crystal Health Group immediately.
If the donor cannot provide a breath sample due to health issues, what MUST you do?
Inform the donor that this is not acceptable and they must provide a breath sample, otherwise the result will be recorded as a fail
Call Crystal Health Group immediately.
