Beginner Level: The One-Way Decoder
Study the decoder above. Notice that each letter is paired with the same letter each time: A=O and O=A, B=X and X=B, C=E and E=C, etc.
This is a basic decoder. It doesn't matter which way you choose to decode or encode, as the answer will be the same.

Intermediate Level: The Two-Way Decoder
Look closely at this new decoder. This time, decoding white to green gives a different answer than decoding green to white. The letter A could decode as either C or M, depending on which way you use the decoder!
This means you may need to decode both ways and decide which word makes the most sense to get the complete message.

You're doing great, Rookie Recruits! Take a deep breath and study this final decoder. Don't be deceived by the simple words. Here's how to use it.
If the code gives you a three-letter word, simply find the matching letter.
Example: FOX = K
If the code gives you a letter and one, two or three dots, use the letter to find the corresponding three-letter word and the dots to tell you which letter in that word to use.
Examples: H. = P and C... = B
