FDA

An FDA Panel recently rejected an application to market sotagliflozin, an oral medication shown to lower glucose levels and improve kidney function, to people with type-1 diabetes – citing a slight increased risk of DKA.

In your opinion, is the FDA too stringent in its review/approval process for new treatments for diabetes?

Absolutely! My body, my risk. My healthcare team and I should decide what I use.
Probably. Diabetes management is more important than an unlikely side effect.
Possibly. We need the FDA watching out for us, but they can be overly cautious sometimes.
Definitely not. Safety is paramount when considering new drugs and devices.
