A day in a new world

Magnificent! We don't see foreigners very often, ours is a bit of an isolated town. Tell me, where do you come from?

That's a very long road...you sure must have an important reason to pay a visit to our town, of all places!

I just stumbled upon it, I'm looking for a place to rest and to go shopping

It was uneventful, but I think I got lost at some point...I'm not sure though

My horse is old and tired, indeed, but other than that it was fine

I hitched I ride from a kind farmer, I hope I may repay him somehow in the future

The village is bathed in the early summer sunlight, that warms tiles and stones. You spot a bunch of shops, a bakery and a tavern. At the centre of the square, an old fountain springs fresh water. What will you do?

You open cautiously the door of the bakery. The smell is fragrant and inviting, but you can trace a note of an unknown scent. You barely hear the mechanical greeting of the lady behind the counter.

Buy something you've never tasted before

Buy your favourite baked good, that reminds you of long gone times

Ask for indications, then take something small out of courtesy

Try to detect the source of the mysterious scent, but fail. Ask the lady about it

Don't you know? It's a spell. She points to a sign on the opposite wall, which you didn't notice before. On it, a list of enchantings promising the most varied things, each blended with one of the specialties for sale. Which one do you want the most?

You notice a chalkboard sign on the wall near the entrance. It lists the ingredients of the bakery's products...and the magical effect associated with each one of them, too. Which did you inadvertently consume?

I haven't eaten anything yet

The place is dim-lit, only a couple of clients are dining here. The subdued chatting, the staff coming and going, the occasional thud from upstairs strike you as fairly normal, but you can sense there is something different about this particular pub.

You take a sit alone, near the windows

You take sit near an occupied table, hoping to find more about this place

While you wait for your ordination to arrive, you decide to stop to the toilet. You take the stairs down, certain to find it, but instead what you see is a vast cellar, cluttered with barrels. As you turn around to go back, you notice a feeble glowing in the far corner. It's a magnificent statue of a nymph, made out of a dark polished material you don't recognize. Near it, a bowl of plain sand on a pedestal. An inscription below suggests to take it to ensure good fortune.

Take some and stash it away for someone else

Hurry outside

Place your hand in the bowl, but don't take any of it

You try to find the exit as fast as you can, but you mistakenly topple the bowl. You are about to panic, but you clearly witness the statue come to life and collect again all the sand, then moving back to its place, all in one fleeting moment.

Leave a little offering to the nymph to make up for it, then exit the cellar

How much are you willing to give up?

You stare at the flowing water disconsolately. Behind you, you something small drops and bounces. You take a look closer, and see it's a small, charcoal-like rock, with shining crystals on the other side.

You throw it in the well

You look for its origins, but do not find anything

You leave it there and walk away

You wander through the forest. You know what you're looking for, you just have to make your way through the wild. What do you think it's the most lovely?

The feeling of being detached from everything else

The delicate balance between every creature of the ambient

The gentle, fresh breeze that makes the leaves flutter about and scatters distant perfumes in the air

The hidden rhythm of life, ancient beyond imagination

The hope it emanates, and also the familiarity of a place you understand well

You arrive to the natural spring of water. Behind a few plants, you can distinguish the rocks it originates from, or rather, it emerges from. The water runs very deep in the stone before gushing into the open air. You know this spring possess no magical properties on its own, but you recognize it from the legends. A nymph once took this place as her home, making it possible for magic to flourish around.

You pass nearby buildings of all sizes, shapes and colours. Nothing stands too much out of the usual, except for the old fashion and techniques employed in the construction. As you reach the outskirts of the small town, you have a glimpse of the fields, the farms, and a couple manors. What do you think of your chosen place?
