Even when I’m not the leader of a team,
People often look to me to lead in an informal way.
I leverage my knowledge to influence the direction the team's work is taking.
I’m often recognized for my innovative approach to solving an assignment.
I relish being the go-to expert among my peers in my favorite subject area.
I follow an unconventional career path, moving across interest areas, always curious to learn something new.
I have clearly defined goals that will get me where I want to go.
I know how things get done at my school/club/organization, and I’m usually able to get the outcome I seek.
I don’t like the internal fighting in my team assignments/club/organization, but I know how to work through them.
There are so many things I want to do, it’s hard to choose only one career path.
When I'm in a supporting role on a team I can get frustrated, seeing better ways to get things done.
I see myself as a:
Problem-solver
Leader
I like to be the one setting direction for the team, rather than following someone else's idea.
Getting to team consensus on a project usually leads to a less interesting result.
I want to have a successful future, but I'm still figuring out my goals.
Following a well-worn path (in school, music or other extra-curricular activities) feels too constraining to me.
I enjoy sharing my expertise in my favorite subject area with my peers.
I love to learn new things and am eager to share what I've learned with others.
I seek out-of-the-box experiences (e.g. AmeriCorp, a summer in Costa Rica).
I'm focused on preparing for the future right now. Adventure can come later.
I prefer time alone to focus on work I'm proud of.
I prefer to be the one in charge of team projects.
I love to try new things and I’m OK if some of them don’t work out.
I love to try new things but I'm hard on myself if they don't work out.
I invest effort in what I think will best prepare me for long term success.
I'm open to changing directions to better suit my interests.
I'm good at hiding what I'm really thinking, which helps when I have to go along with something I don't agree with.
If I don't agree with the direction of a project, it's hard for me to hide it.
My interests change frequently.
I volunteer for assignments that help me stand out from my peers.
It’s important to me to:
Do work I’m proud of.
Create out-of-the-box solutions.
I keep a running list of ideas I want to pursue.
I focus on 1 or 2 areas of interest rather than spreading myself too thin in lots of different directions.
I am often dissatisfied with what comes with leadership roles (e.g. More paperwork, more trying to get others on board with an idea).
I enjoy figuring out how to move a team project in the direction I want it to go.
