Which squirrel is the Kaibab Squirrel?

The Kaibab Squirrel is one of the rarest mammals in the national park system. It is found on the Kaibab plateau, on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, and is native to no other part of the world. Since the Kaibab squirrel is unique and has a restricted range, the National Park Service, the United States Forest Service, and the State of Arizona have entered into a cooperative agreement whereby the animal is given strict protection. It is hoped that success will follow this effort to preserve this unique species for the enjoyment of future generations.

True or False: More than 6,000 archaeological and historic sites have been recorded on the Kaibab National Forest.

The majority of these sites are associated with "Cohonina," who occupied the Kaibab between AD 700 and AD 1100. They left stone houses, pottery sherds, stone tools, grinding stones and rock art across the forest. Which bird of prey is the osprey?

Ospreys are very common around the lakes within the Kaibab National Forest. Ospreys are unique among North American raptors because their diet consists of live fish and they have the ability to dive into water to catch them. At the White Horse Lake Campground, along the guided hike, you can see an osprey platform built in 1992 by AZ Game and Fish. This platform was installed to encourage breeding when their population numbers decreased in the 80s and early 90s.
