The Primera Categoría Serie B is an Ecuadorian professional football league. It has been won by thirty two different football clubs. Olmedo was the runner-up of the first season in 1971. What football club won the league in 1971?
The War of the League of Cambrai was fought from 1508 to 1561 as part of the Italian wars of 1494-1559. At various times, nearly every significant power in Western Europe was involved in the War of the League of Cambrai, including Spain, the Holy Roman Empire, England, and more. Who were the three main participants that fought for the entire duration of the war?
Let the Circle Be Unbroken is a sequel to the 1976 book, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. The book was written by Mildred D. Taylor and published in 1981. Mildred D. Taylor was born in Jackson, Mississippi, grew up in Toledo, Ohio, and graduated from the University of Toledo in 1965. After graduating she joined Peace Corp and spent two years in Ethiopia before returning to The University of Colorado to complete a master's degree. The American Library Association, presented her with what award in 1982 for her book Let the Circle Be Unbroken?
A black hole's event horizon is a boundary in spacetime through which matter and light can only pass inward towards the mass of the black hole. Not even light can escape from inside the event horizon. Rotating black holes are surrounded by a region of spacetime in which it is impossible to stand still, called the ergosphere. This is the result of a process known as frame-dragging; general relativity predicts that any rotating mass will tend to slightly "drag" along the spacetime immediately surrounding it. Any object near the rotating mass will tend to start moving in the direction of rotation. For a rotating black hole, this effect is so strong near the event horizon that an object would have to move faster than the speed of light in the opposite direction to just stand still. Another characteristic of a black hole is the photon sphere, which is the spherical boundary of zero thickness in which photons moving on tangents to that sphere would be trapped in orbit around a black hole. For non-rotating black holes, the photon sphere has a radius that is 1.5 times what physical parameter from a solution to Einstein's field equations?
According to Greek mythology, harpies were sent by Zeus to steal food from King Phineus of Salmydessus each day. In exchange for killing the harpies, Phineus told the Arognauts how to pass the Symplegades, two large rocks at the Posphorus Strait that clashed together whenever a vessel went between them. Prior to reaching Salmydessus and killing the harpies, the Argonauts had killed the king of what people?
On their quest for the golden fleece, Jason and the Argonauts landed on the coast of Propontis and were well treated by the Doliones, and their King, Cyzicus. After departing, the Argonauts got lost and ended up back were they started, during the night. Mistaking them for enemies, the people living there attacked the Argonauts and the Argonauts killed many, including the king and his wife. After realising their mistake, a funeral, and a second departure, the Argonauts arrived where and learned how to pass The Clashing Rocks?
A Schwarzschild Black Hole is a non-rotating, or static, black hole that has no electrical charge, does not rotate, and is only defined by its mass. The Schwarzschild solution is a solution to Einstein's field equations that corresponds to the radius defining the event horizon of a Schwarzschild black hole. The event horizon of a Schwarzschild black hole is situated at the Schwarzschild radius, a physical parameter in the Schwarzschild solution. Unlike Schwarzschild black holes, general relativity predicts that rotating black holes create a process called frame-dragging, where the black hole 'drags' along the spacetime surrounding it. What is the name of the of this area of spacetime surrounding a black hole?
The American Library Association, annually confers numerous awards. One notable award is the Dartmouth Medal, of which the first ever recipient was the New England Board of Higher Education in 1975. The longer standing, Coretta Scott King Award, was first won by Lillie Patterson in 1970. Other notable winners include Mildred D. Taylor, who has won the award 4 times, in 1982, 1988, 1991, and 2002, and the late John Lewis, who served in the United States House of Representatives. In what country was Mildred D. Taylor living 16 years before she first won the Coretta Scott King Award?
The Italian Wars took place from 1494 to 1559 and was fought mostly on the Italian peninsular, though it expanded into the Flanders, the Rhineland, and the Mediterranean Sea. The war contained various phases of conflict including the War of the League of Cognac, fought between the Habsburg dominions of Charles V and the League of Cognac from 1526 to 1530. What was the name of the phase that took place from 1508 to 1516 of which the main participants were France, the Papal States, and the Republic of Venice?
