Class Rep - Signposting Activity

There’s a student in your class that wants to start a Dungeons and Dragons group from some people in the class but they’re not sure how to get more people interested. They’ve asked you to join but it’s not your cup of tea, you prefer computer gaming and already part of Forth Valley Gaming. Who would you advise they speak to?

You’re working out in the gym with some people from your class during lunch, when you overhear one of the students talk about the hard time they are having making their bursary stretch each week. They said they envy other students because they have parents but because they were in the care system, they don’t know who to ask for help; they feel totally alone. To which department would you advise the student speak to?

You’re in the queue to get that second cup of tea of the morning in the canteen. As the hot water fills the cup, you overhear some students from your class talk about another student who is a transgender person. These students have known the trans student since school and their transition and while in class or in the halls, they will shout the trans student dead name (use of old name before transition) and consistently misgender them. You have heard the lecturer talk to them in the past about their behaviour but they still continue to harass the student and you’ve now noticed they aren’t attending college as often. Where would you advise the student facing harassment to go?

You’ve logged on to your final class of the day on Teams. Most of your class has logged on and they are chatting away. When you notice its been ten minutes and the lecturer hasn’t joined the meeting. Someone suggests that you as class rep message the lecturer to find out what is happening. Another 10 minutes go by and the lecturer finally shows. Its happened a few time now this year and you’ve talked to the lecturer about it but they said they just have IT issues. Which department head should you speak about your concerns?
