In 1932, in Warsaw, three Polish mathematicians and cryptologists, Marian Rejewski, Jerzy Różycki and Henryk Zygalski broke the code of a German cipher machine. That device was employed extensively by Nazi Germany during World War II, in all branches of the German military and was considered so secure that it was used to encipher the most top-secret messages.
