During mounted operations, vehicles need to be static to observe, re-group, give orders and conduct maintenance, rest and administration. The longer a vehicle is static in one location the more vulnerable it can become.

The best form of defence is not to be seen by exploiting the ground and environment to hide the vehicle. If attacked, a position must be chosen that affords both all-round defence and ability to move rapidly to counter-attack or withdraw.

Therefore your crew will perform a number of drills depending on the duration of the halt in order to hide and protect the vehicle and crew.
