Sustainability for Every Day

Hi!

I'm Leigh.

I'm researching how ordinary people find easy ways to bring a little more sustainability to their daily lives.

It's based on a simple premise:
Habits only stick if they make people feel GOOD.

This good feeling can mean enjoying the habit itself (like taking a walk), or it can mean being proud of the result (like recycling), but one way or another, if the brain doesn't get its shot of dopamine, then the habit won't stick.

So, I would love your insights on how green or sustainable routines affect your life.  Or, how they don't affect your life.

I'm not looking for happy, positive input.  I'm looking for your real thoughts and feelings, whatever those are.  If they're good, great!  If they're bad, also great!

Also, I'm not looking to you to be an expert on anything.  You are an expert on YOU.  That's what I'm asking about.  I don't need to know what you think other people want to hear.  I want to know what's really in your heart and mind.

Everything you put here will be completely confidential, never to be shared.

Unless you want it to be shared, in which case I have a place for you to indicate that preference and share contact info at the end of the survey.  But that's all at your own discretion.

Thank you for taking the time to share your insights and put your thoughts into words.

You are amazing.

Thank you for taking the time to share your insights and put your thoughts into words.

You are amazing.
What does the word "sustainable" mean to you?
What does the word "green" mean to you, in the context of the environment?
(Good or bad impressions. What do you really think?)
Is sustainability, particularly in terms of your personal actions, something you think about regularly?
Yes
No
Why is it important to you?
Why don't you think of it regularly?
Do you have any regular habits that you feel are green or sustainable?
Yes
No
Would you like to have habits that you feel are more green or sustainable?
No. I don't feel it is important.
No. I don't agree with the premise.
Yes, but other concerns are of higher priority to me.
Yes, but I just forget or don't think about it.
Yes, but it's too much trouble.
Yes, but I don't know what to do.
What is your favorite sustainable habit (or habits) that you do frequently?
What makes this habit (or habits) your favorite?
Why do you think this habit is important?
What green action do you think you could take that would make the most positive impact?

Examples: recycling, volunteering, donating, using solar power, taking the bus, etc.

What do YOU think would have the biggest result?
Do you do this action?
Yes
Yes, but not regularly.
No
Why do you? Or, why don't you?
If you could snap your fingers and alter one daily habit of everyone on the planet (or in this country) to improve the future, what would you choose, and why?
What encourages you to adopt behaviors that you consider sustainable?

Possible examples:
Things that are easy to do?
Things that make a big impact?
Things that make you feel healthy?
Things that affect your community?
Things you see your friends, family or co-workers doing?
etc.
What discourages you from adopting behaviors that you consider sustainable?

Possible examples:
Too hard?
No visible effect?
Being guilt-ed into it by someone else?
etc.
Do you like being challenged to adopt greener habits? Or does this discourage you? Why?
Which statements (1 or more) best describe you?
