I am usually grown in California. I start out firm , plump and juicy. However, when I'm left to dry in the sun, I wither and become all wrinkled. I taste great al by myself but I also make a nutritious addition to quick breads, coffee cake and cereal.
I am made inthe shape of a circle and often contain ingredients from all flour main four groups. The bottom layer is made from a dough. Then cover me with a layer of tomato sauce. Cover this with an assortment of vegetables or meats such as pepperoni, sausage or canadian bacon. Top with shredded cheese.
I'll bet you were surprised to learn that I can be part of a good breakfast. Moast people think about spreading me on bread for lunch. Many people add jelly to make a different kind of sandwich.
You can b8y me in a plastic contianer in the dairy section of your grocery store. Usually I am sold plain or with fruit added. Sometimes nuts or granola are added too.
People call me by lots of different names. No matter what you call me, I'm made by mixing up a batter that's poured onto a hot griddle to cook. When I start bubbling use a tuner to flip me over so I can brown on the other side.
In the islands of Hawaii, I grow in many fields with my green leaves towering over my plump yellow-brown body Sometimes I am sold whole in your supermarkets but I am also sold cannedin slices, chunks or all crushed up. Eat me with foods from dairy group, the protein group or the grain group.
