Which Overland base do you REALLY belong on?

How do you feel about language learning?
Please ma don’t make me I’m begging you
I’d do some casual study and learn important phrases, but I’d rather not have to depend completely on my foreign language skills.
It would be kind of fun to learn a European language or something more simple, but no crazy alphabets please.
Bring. It. On. Alphabets? Sweet. Tones? Love it. How many do I need to learn? I already got the Duolingo app up and running.
How do you feel about bodies of water?
The ocean is my happy place. In it, on it, work, play, YES.
The beach is fun and coasts are beautiful but I wouldn’t call myself a total beach bum.
I love lakes and rivers, fishing, canoeing, etc., but the ocean is overrated.
Water in general is full of dangerous creatures and is a drowning hazard so, hard pass.
Would you consider yourself a foodie?
I’m notorious. Food—eating out, baking, and experimenting with fun and exotic flavors in my cooking—might be my singular hobby.
I would love living somewhere that has interesting or world-renowned cuisine for me to feast on, but I’m not necessarily the best cook
Everyone appreciates a good meal, but it’s not on my mind too often
Food? Oh I forgot about food. Maybe we can just bring a jar of peanut butter for lunch. Everybody cool with that?
You're on staff and it’s AMT graduation, and everyone is chatting up a storm. Where are you?
Frantically trying to get to know AMT students that I haven’t quite connected with yet. I’m in and out of base but I love getting to know new people!
Laughing raucously with the students at our many inside jokes. Man I will miss these legends. Staff retreat can’t come soon enough.
Sitting with my closest friends already on staff…AMT just wants to be with each other tonight, right? That’s my excuse…
In the kitchen cooking, or doing dishes, or moving chairs, or shuttling things back and forth from the main center. I like serving behind the scenes and I don’t love socializing so this is a win-win!
Mark your preference of ministry and spiritual challenges (closed country, hostile religious environment, closed off people) versus physical and logistical challenges (remote people, immigration hoops to jump through, tough weather and lack of resources).

How are you with FOMO (fear of missing out)?
The worst. Can I please clone myself? My heart is aching.
There are choice events and holidays that are really tough for me to miss, but overall I’m happy being who I’m with and where I am.
I’m neutral. If I’m there, yay, if I’m not, whatever.
Is LOMO a thing? (Love of missing out)
It’s Saturday and the team is doing something fun together! What sounds most appealing? (Pick 2)
A game drive at a nearby national park
Movies, snacks, and board games at home
Fishing and maybe a refreshing dip in the water
Getting specialty tea or coffee or eating out at a local café
Beach volleyball, surfing, or some light snorkeling
Visiting some local tourist sites—hiking at waterfalls, seeing ancient ruins, museums, or beautiful architecture
How are you with roughing it?
Basically I’m Bear Gryllz eating grubs and drinking my pee. I’d be happy in a tent for as long as necessary and I love being outdoors
Long power outages, utility issues, lack of shopping availability…it’s annoying for sure but it doesn’t really bother me like it might bother others
It’s fun to rough it for short periods on expeditions and trips out, but I love to return to my comfortable home after it’s over
I’m willing to make sacrifices when God calls, but honestly I struggle with not having my comforts. I love hot water, aircon, being able to shop, eat out, and find what I need when I need it
Do you have any skills? You know, like nunchuck skills, bowhunting skills…Closed countries really like people who have great skills!
I have the more practical type skills—building, vehicles, woodworking, fixing stuff, agriculture, working with my hands.
I have the higher education type skills—language and language teaching, health and medicine, botany, etc.
I have the administration type skills—media, software, coding, event planning
Boats. I’m especially good at boats.
My skills are mostly ministry and sharing the gospel-related, or are not listed here
Which ministry need tugs most at your heart?
Rural and unreached people groups
Serving behind the scenes so the team can do their best work unhindered
People entrenched in the tradition of other major religions—Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, etc.
People held captive by a lifeless, warped, legalistic, or religious understanding of Christianity
Bringing hope and healing to people who have faced war or trauma
