At the beginning of a legal test appointment, before taking the swabs
All legal DNA tests
On completion of any DNA test

The mouth swabs are used to collect skin cells from the inside of the donors cheek
Swabs should never be handled at the cotton tip end, as this may cause cross contamination
The mouth swabs are used to collect the donors saliva, which contains DNA
Swabs should be air dried for at least 30 seconds before placing in the sample envelope
The donor should handle the swab and take the sample themselves to avoid any possible contamination
