I resent those who have not given me what I deserve, and I mean to take it for myself
I want to stand on top of the world, to be feared and envied by everyone who ever doubted me
I want what everyone wants -- money, power, fame -- and I am simply more willing than most to ruin other people's lives to get them
What do you hate most?
Foolishness
Cowardice
Disloyalty

People
Pick one of my favorite / most hated antagonists:

Tywin Lannister (Game of Thrones)
Holland (The Shades of Magic Trilogy)
Pick something that's responsible for at least some of the things wrong with me:
My relationship with my father
Watching Star Wars: The Clone Wars at age 7
Sophomore year of high school, specifically sophomore year chemistry
Catholic elementary/middle school
Reality Bites (1994)
Pick one of my questionably healthy coping mechanisms:
Buying new books
Lying on my bed, staring at the ceiling, and listening to My Chemical Romance at a slightly-too-loud volume
Rereading Six of Crows for the thousandth time
Putting fictional characters through Terrible Things
Scrolling Reddit / watching YouTube for hours to avoid my responsibilities
Song Lyrics Time:
"The worst things in the world are justified by belief" -- U2, "Raised by Wolves"
"Money, so they say / Is the root of all evil today / But if you ask for a rise, it's no surprise / They're giving none away" -- Pink Floyd, "Money"
"When I was a very small boy, very small boys talked to me / Now that we've grown up together, they're afraid of what they see" -- New Order, "True Faith"
"You're one microscopic cog in his catastrophic plan / Designed and directed by his red right hand" -- Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, "Red Right Hand"
"Beware the patient woman, for this much I know / No one calls you honey when you're sitting on a throne" -- Valerie Broussard, "A Little Wicked"
What is one of your good qualities?
I am good with people, and can have amicable conversations with them even if we don't like each other much
I know what I want, and am willing to take the necessary steps to get it
I am very passionate about my work and hobbies, and I don't do anything halfway
I know how to take initiative on projects, and people respect me as a leader
I keep cool under pressure, and can be trusted with difficult tasks
Thoughts on villain redemptions?
Almost always terrible. Let villains stay villains, please and thank you
Secondary antagonist redemptions tend to work better than main antagonist redemptions, but they still aren't always successful and/or necessary
As with any trope, it can be done well, and it can be done horribly
Humanizing villains is good. Pretending the atrocities they committed didn't happen because "they're good now" isn't
There is one (1) good redemption arc in all of fiction, and no one else should even try to recreate it because it's simply not possible
Pick something people say that's part of my villain origin story
"Fantasy isn't *real* literature"
Using "unalive" unironically
"Can I be a character in one of your stories?"
*Insert something about how self-published books are inherently worse than traditionally published books here*
"[Insert book] is bad because the characters aren't relatable"
Pick something I've looked up on private browsers for research:
PTSD symptoms
What does getting stabbed feel like?
How long does it take to dig a grave?
How much blood can someone lose before bleeding out?
Can you break someone's ribs by punching them?
What, if any, personal attachments do you have?
Attachments are a weakness to be exploited, nothing more
I have a collection of like-minded individuals I call friends; I don't need anyone else
My family is a disappointment, but I have a couple friends
I wouldn't exactly call my friends "attachments."
I have a family and plenty of friends, what of it? No one could touch them even if they wanted to, and why would they?
What's your favorite color?
Black
Purple
Dark green
Red
Blue
Pick a deadly sin (yes, I know there are 7 of them and only 5 are listed here, leave me alone):
Greed
Wrath
Pride
Envy
Lust
Pick a conversation I had with my roommates this semester:
My roommate's list of pros and cons of hooking up with some guy
Why having the power to kill everyone you thought was bad would be a terrible idea
How to recognize when people are manipulating you
How to make social events more bearable by treating it as research on human behavior for writing purposes
A painfully long discussion wherein I had to educate two of my roommates on the whole being queer thing
