Nuclear Worlds: 2084
What future do you choose?

Do you think nuclear power should be used to mitigate climate change?
Yes, we should use all energy sources accessible, therefore investing into the build of nuclear power plants and research into nuclear power generators is a good idea.
I’d rather not invest in nuclear power, but I don’t mind continuing to use and renew the factories already available, we should focus more on the building of renewables.
No, I think existing nuclear power plants should be shut down and we should invest solely in renewables.
Would you support the use of geoengineering (specifically the use of reflective aerosols), to keep global temperatures stable?
Yes
No
Who should be in charge of nuclear and renewable energy development and research, and which economical resources should be used?
Only the government should be in charge of nuclear and renewable energy development, therefore taxes should be used for the energy industry.
The private sector should be able to develop reactors, the more resources going towards cleaner energy (than fossil fuels) the better.
Would you work together with other countries to store nuclear waste?
Yes, there should be one big location where all countries' nuclear waste is safely deposited, for example under the ocean
No, in order to remain in control and avoid tampering, waste should be disposed of in several separate smaller waste disposal sites within the country but away from people as much as possible.
Which of these options is more important to invest in if nuclear power is to be implemented?
Specialized infrastructure to safely get rid of nuclear waste (i.e separate roads for nuclear waste).
Science communication, to make sure all citizens know the risks of nuclear power and know what to do in event of an accident.
Where should the government be allowed to place renewable energy sources (i.e wind turbines and solar panels)?
Wind-turbines and solar panels should only be placed in government owned areas and industrial complexes, to not disturb any historical architecture or private property.
Renewables should be able to be placed anywhere when needed, regardless of property rights. We are in a crisis so wind turbines in the ocean and solar panels in the farmlands and on private property should be possible.
I care more about preventing children’s health issues than mitigating climate change/moving towards power neutrality.
Agree
Disagree
How important is it to keep all citizens happy in the development towards cleaner energy?
Not too important, there are always going to be people that disagree, but at this stage big changes need to be made even if this is at the risk of angering certain groups of people.
It is of great importance that there is a consensus on big energy changes within the public, therefore finding a middle road is more important than quickly making changes.
Which one of these statements do you agree with more?
We should move quickly towards cleaner energy, even if this drives energy prices up.
The movement towards cleaner energy should be catered to the economical growth of the population, even if this means a slower transition.
Should the government be able to monitor (and potentially halt) technological developments being made in the private sector? (specifically in relation to energy)
No, the government shouldn’t inhibit technological advancement apart from ethical research guidelines. As development is very much needed within the energy field.
The government should be somewhat involved to make sure advanced tools, or the means to develop advanced tools don’t fall into the hands of private actors.
The government should be very much involved, as steps in the energy industry being made influences the environment for all of us.
Which health issues, that arise as a consequence of social or natural environmental changes, are most important to prevent within the population?
Stress and mental health issues, we should make sure all people feel safe and informed.
Lung and skin issues as a result of air pollution.
Radiation effects such as cancers and other mutations
What do you consider the biggest threat of nuclear energy, and would you most want to avoid?
Nuclear war
Nuclear waste disposal
Nuclear power plants
In the face of development of nuclear energy and renewable energy, what should the government do in terms of reliable energy for all citizens?
A unified type of energy utilised by all the citizens should be promoted.
Citizens should have access to diverse types of energy to be able to choose which would best suit their needs.
There should be energy equity, those with less resources or ability should be actively helped to have cleaner energy, even if this stands in the way of the development of the free market.
What do you think is the most suitable way to reach climate goals in reference to current transition plans?
More radical action needs to be taken than is currently planned for, since the situation is already very dire.
Climate policy needs to be gradually implemented, just like the current plans, to carefully consider all possible outcomes and to give citizens a chance to acclimate.
