IA must balance the needs of the user with the goals of the business
There is a bid difference between how an android user and a Mac user navigate. This is why it’s hard for users to change to a different OS
There is only a certain amount of information the user is able to take in at one time and process
The Perfect catch
Information is the bridge that brings them together
Determining the level of granularity in the information and how to relate them to each other.

What is correct for IA?
Making information findable and understandable
Is invisible
Practice focused on bringing principles of design and architecture to the digital landscape
Shaping information products and experiences to support usability, find-ability and understanding
The synthesis of organization, labeling, search and navigation systems with digital, physical and cross-channel ecosystems
Data is meant to be taken in and being processed to knowledge

What is correct for context?
Document, datatypes, content objects, volume, existing structures
Business goals, funding, culture, technology, resources constraints
Goals, cultures, mission e.g. Are unique to each organization. Ia must be uniquely matched to all context
There is no clear answer, must be studied in the field
What is correct for content?
They are all people with different information needs, knowledge and behaviors to translate the data.
Document, datatypes, content objects, volume, existing structures

What factors are the content built of:
Ownership: who creates and owns the content? How much is produced by the users? This is things that affects the level of control on your platform.
Format: the type of the documents. Databases, pdf’s, products, catalogues e.g.
Guides: Links to related subjects
Headings: Labels that describe the content and establish a hierarchy within the content through font size, font color etc.
Contextual links: Hyperlinks to chunks of info. E.g. Related products, articles
Structure: All documents are not created equal, e.g. Manuals vs memos. (different structure for different content)
Metadata: Metadata describes the content and/or the structure of it. To what extent has the metadata been created? Is it tagged manually or automatically? Are you starting from scratch? E.g. tags
Volume: How much content is there?
Dynamism: How much new data will be added and how much will the content grow?
The too simple model:
The Too-simple model is the most common but also the most problematic
It rarely happens this way because most of the time when we search for something we don’t know exactly what we want. Users usually poke around on websites, not sure what to find.

CHANGE READINESS ASSESSMENT
In this assessment you will come across 15 statements showing different negative behaviours that normally occur in organizations on varying scales. Choose the number that best describes the negative behaviours in your organization. You have to choose on a scale of 1 to 10. If it is 100% and always true, choose 10. If didn't match at all choose 1. Please choose any one number for a statement from 1 to 10 that best quantifies your answer. The context of this assessment is Bharat Forge Ltd. Pay some attention to what is going on in the larger context of your overall organization. Use your personal experience as well as what you hear from others.
