The VAZA Scale: How Engaged Are Your Employees? (v. 1a)

At the end of the day, which behavior is most typical at your workplace?
Most employees are wrapping up the day with a positive outlook and sharing “wins” with their colleagues.
Employees are positive about the day’s outcomes, but ready to go home.
Employees are still at their desks, but watching the clock.
Honestly? The majority of the team has left by 4pm.
Before a staff meeting begins, what behavior do you typically observe?
Most people are wiggling in their seat with great anticipation and ready to be passionate participants in the meeting.
Most of the team is focused and ready to get going.
Most are distracted, engaged in chit-chat or playing with their tablet or phone until the meeting starts.
Most are either late to the meeting or absent.
Before they arrive at work, which do you imagine is most accurate about your team's morning routine?
Most of them wake up with energy and are truly excited to go to work early.
Most of them have a solid morning structure and a good attitude going into the office.
Most of them wake up slowly and move through a morning routine the best they can to get to work on time.
Most of them sleep late and can often be late for work.
When it comes to employee retention, which do you imagine to be most true for your staff?
I think the majority would strongly prefer to stay at the company, even if offered a higher salary elsewhere.
I think that the majority are not actively seeking a different job, but would be open to a new opportunity elsewhere if it came along.
I think the majority might not be very happy, but not necessarily motivated to make changes. After all, it's a paycheck...
I wouldn’t be surprised if the majority are looking for work, perhaps even during company time.
When you announce a new project in your company’s advocacy program, what would you predict would happen?
Most people would jump right in to take the lead and offer ideas.
Most people would participate but not volunteer to be leaders.
Most people would show up but be unenthused or annoyed.
Most people would ignore the request, try to get out of it, or badmouth the project to others.
When you give constructive criticism to your team, what is the response?
Most will really take it in, ask for alternatives of what would work better, and continue the dialogue to continue to perform better for the company.
Most will hear what you have to say and will try to make changes accordingly.
Most will be fairly apathetic to whatever you say…they’ll listen but it’s not being absorbed.
Most will likely get defensive, start an argument, or put the blame on someone else.
When introduced to a new system or procedure:
Most of my team would be excited for how these changes will improve productivity.
Most would be on board and open to the changes.
Most would be skeptical and or reluctant to implement the changes.
Most would likely complain to co-worker and possibly sabotage the transition.
Regarding the values of the company:
Most people can easily communicate the values, have embodied and are actively demonstrate them in their actions and decision making, and making consistent reference to them in their work.
Most people have a sense of the values and could discuss them if asked.
Most probably couldn’t tell you what the values are - though they probably heard them once upon a time.
Most do not know or care what the values are.
