Set the scene.

Silence, but for the grasshoppers. The middle of the night; a clear sky full of stars. It's warm, almost uncomfortably so. You've taken off your jacket, and you might unbutton your collar, but what will it look like?
Wind through the trees. In the distance, a child laughing. Morning dew, and the sun is half-hidden by clouds. A scarf around your neck and shoulders. You're waking up, you think. You miss someone.
The clatter of dishware, the thrum of conversation, the crackle of the fire. No windows, but it must be getting late. Your hat and gloves are next to you, and you have butterflies in your stomach. Someone is looking at you, fondly.
Silence, but for footsteps in the corridor, and your own breath. It's dawn, and the sun shines through the window. The air feels just right. You pull the covers back over your head. something (or someone) is on your mind.
The rustle of the bedcovers, shutters in the wind. dark, just a sliver of moonlight through the window. Your feet are cold, and your head is heavy, but someone is next to you.
