What happened at raglan golf protest?

In WW2 the government took some local tribe ancestral land to be used as a military base after the base was no longer needed there sold it off and the land was turned into a golf course instead of giving it back to local tribes. After plans to extend the local golf course were announced, the local tribe, Tainui Whiro create a protest at the golf course. The protest was focused on the damage to sacred burial grounds and main violation of Maori’s rights. After few months of protesting the government try to sell off the land but tribe refuses eventually a few years later the government gave up and returned the land to the tribe.
