Danganronpa fanstory; friendly kill; chapter 1 trial

anne: so where do we start?

conna: simple. Start with the murder weapon

hanaki: murder weapon?

akira: if I'm not wrong, there was no murder weapon. The cause of death was poisoning

anne: but if she was poisoned, than why did the culprit hang the body and set that fire trap? There was no evidence pointing at them to begin with.

mikina: the time of death was right after the party. So it's safe to assume that the culprit poisoned her during the party.

akira: let's assume that for now. And look back at the scene where we found the corpse.

hanaki: now that you mention it. There was something strange.

akira: I'm sure you can confirm what. Right hanaki?

right. What was strange about the scene, or the body?
The missing shoes and glasses
The gasoline
The hanging body
The locked door
akira: indeed. Her shoes and glasses were no where to be found. It's strange that the culprit decided to get rid of them. But why?

anne: maybe it was because there were traces of the poison? She did die AFTER the party right?

mikina: yes. That's what the corpse file says.

noah: poison needs time to spread. It must have been during the party, and taken effect later on

anika: that only brings up more questions. What was pixie doing before she died?

crystal: based on the time, we can assume pixie didn't have long before she fell dead.

i think there is something in one of those statements.

curator note;  you'll get multiple truth bullets, the green text is where you need to agree, the red text where you disagree.

truth  bullets:

time of death

place of death

cause of death
Doing before she died + place of death
After + time of death
Doing before she died + time of death
Doing before she died + cause of death
After + cause of death
After + place of death
Taken effect later + cause of death
Taken effect later + time of death
Taken effect later + place of death
noah: yes. That's right. The corpse file said that she DIED in her own room. Not that she was found there.

akira: it's a small detail. But it helps. We now know that pixie could have been doing anything right before she died.

anika: that's for certain. They were completely missing. The culprit must have done that to confuse us about what happened.

noah: the missing items will come up later. Note the voodoo doll we found at the scene. I'm not certain if it was a voodoo doll, but it was made to look like pixie. The job was crappy. So either it was made in a hurry, or made by someone inexperienced with dolls.

angelica: so you're saying that anne is suspicious, yet there is no proof against her?

deman: why suspect her if there's no actual proof?

anne: the voodoo doll isn't mine. I would make it much more accurate. And what about the gasoline?

alice: don't look at me. yes, I work with motorcycles. but I have an alibi for every second. During the party, I was constantly on the dancefloor. so I couldn't have poisoned her. And afterwards, spy girl, hanaki, crystal, alexander, akira and I all spend hours cleaning up. During that time, anyone could have taken the gasoline from my room.

mikina: in more than an hour. anyone could have done that

there is a hole somewhere. I just need to clear that up.

truth bullets:

alibis

voodoo doll

gasoline

Proof + voodoo doll
Proof + alibis
Proof + gasoline
Anyone + alibis
Anyone + voodoo doll
Anyone + gasoline
hanaki: we know that those who were cleaning up have solid alibis. We found the corpse right after we finished because we smelled the gasoline that was already there.

noah: so that clears alice, spy, akira, hanaki, crystal and alexander. right?

crystal: yes. And each one of us can confirm that.

noah: that means these people are already in the clear. But what about the poison? When did the culprit get it?

akira: we can be certain that it came from the nursery.

kumori: the nursery has a section with dangerous chemicals. I checked, and one was indeed missing. But during preparations, we all kept walking back and forth. There is no way the culprit could sneak in unseen.

crystal: I remember that during the morning preparations, fiona dropped  one of the chairs. anne, pixie, alice and I took her to the nursery. The culprit could have taken it at that moment when we weren't paying attention.

alexander: was the poison already missing at that point?

crystal: none of us checked. We only went there to help fiona, not to try and stop a murder we didn't even know would happen.

akira: so it's safe to assume that that's an option. It's also possible someone grabbed the poison before the preparations or during the decorating last night. The nursery locks at night so the culprit couldn't have taken it around midnight.

hanaki: so we're limited to before and during decorating, and preparations.

kumori: that's invalid. During the decorating last night, I was in the nursery. I was taking my time to inspect the poison and medicine. If we want to get out of here. We need to know our options.

akira: you know that that puts suspicion on you right?

kumori: it does. but I'm willing to take that if it means finding the truth.

hanaki: no. I think we can trust her. She never gave up on trying to get us all out alive. She even refused to help with the decorating.

kumori: I figured someone might set a trap and put the blame on anyone there. That's why I convinced some of you not to help.

angelica: she did come to explaining that possibility. That's why I refused to help.

deman: that' true.

akira: I see.

hanaki: but if it wasn't taken last night.

then when was it taken?

Last morning
Before the party
During the decorating
During the party
At night
akira: it's most likely that the poison was taken during the preparations. So it must have been someone who was preparing.

anika: it doesn't have to be. There is still a chance that someone went in unnoticed. Maybe while we were all going there. It would be one of the few who arrived last.

crystal: but isn't it obvious that everyone would go straight there?

alexander: let's leave this behind for now and focus on how the murder scene was.

hanaki: right. The corpse was hanging even though the cause of death was poison.

akira: how do you plan to explain that? The murderer must have done that. But when. The body was found right after the cleanup. And the murder happened during the party. There's no way it happened without anyone noticing, right?

hanaki: that should be clear.

when did the culprit hang the body?
hanaki: it must have happened during the cleanup. We already confirmed that. remember?

akira: right, sorry.

crystal: so everything was prepared beforehand?

alexander: it seems that way

anika: that's not true. The trap, the string trap that set of the lighter seemed like it was set up with string used to make clothes. Which was already in the room. The lighter came from the kitchen. I checked, there was one missing. And the room was locked. Using needles, anyone could get that result. Which means everything could have been done last minute.

noah: it's possible that the culprit just wanted to kill someone, they might not have decided to settle with pixie. But just with whoever ate the poisoned food.

hanaki: how do you know the food was poisoned, and not some drink?

anne: I remember pixie saying that she doesn't like much besides water and tea. She must have refused to drink anything other than the water she always carries around.

noah: pixie refused a drink multiple times during the party and drank from a water bottle instead.

anne: so that means that it must have been the food.

crystal: but let's not forget that the culprit might have intended to kill her. Wouldn't they have poisoned the water instead?

alexander: that only raises more questions. Who knew that she wouldn't drink what we prepared?

there is something noticeable in those arguments. I must point that out

truth bullets:

no one else got poisoned

during the party

poisoned pastries

It must have been the food + poisoned pastries
It must have been the food + no one else was poisoned
Have been the food + during the party
Poisoned the water + no one else was poisoned
Poisoned the water + during the party
Poisoned the water + poisoned pastries
hanaki: now that I think about it. The food couldn't have been poisoned. No one else got sick, or died.

akira: so you're saying that the culprit knew that pixie had her own water bottle and poisoned that?

hanaki: she's the only one who brought their own, separate drink, right?

anika: that's correct.

hanaki: and she, the only one who took her own bottle, was the only one to be poisoned.

anne: so what? That doesn't bring us anywhere.

crystal: actually, it does. No one knew about the water bottle. The only one who could have known without a doubt, was anne.

akira: for now. It's safe to say that anne is our prime suspect. But we still have evidence we didn't go over. We still haven't figured out why the culprit tried to burn the room, or why we found the voodoo doll there.

noah: don't forget that we still don't know what pixie did before she died.

crystal: noah. You're a  scientist right? Can you tell what the poison does. The label only says that if someone drinks or inhales it, they'll die slowly.

noah: it's most likely that the poison causes stomach aches, and headaches. Until it slowly paralyzes the body. The victim would then stop breathing as soon as the brain is affected by the poison.

hanaki: so it's possible that pixie thought that she got sick because she ate something bad?

akira: if that's the case. It should become obvious what pixie did, and why she took her shoes and glasses off.

why did pixie take her shoes and glasses off?
To take a shower
Because she felt like it
Because she wanted to get some rest.
Because she knew she was going to die
Because they were dirty
hanaki: she must have taken them off because she wanted to go to bed. She most likely felt sick and wanted to  get some rest.

akira: yes. That makes sense.

anne: but if that's so, where did they go?

crystal: I believe that's obvious. The culprit must have thrown them out

alexander: or they were burned in the fire?

anne: let's just admit it. All this stuff leads to no one. Let's assume it's someone who has talent for making things complicated.

fiona: that would be. . . . . anika, alexander, akira, spy girl and. . .is it possible that crystal could have done it? We don't know what her talent is.

crystal: I have a solid alibi remember. and I wouldn't be able to set that trap, even if I stood on top of the bed. akira, alexander and spy girl all have an alibi.

anika: I couldn't have done it. I'm good with solving puzzles. Not making them.

akira: that says it. Every person with a talent that would lead there has an alibi. Except for anika.

masuko: i've been quiet this whole time, because I have no clue what happened. but I can assure you that anika and I were together the whole time.

akira: so then who got rid of the shoes, and glasses?

crystal: that could be anyone!

i know that something doesn't make sense.

truth bullets:

ashes in the room

fire trap

shut window

Thrown them out + shut window
Got rid of + ashes in the room
Thrown them out + ashes in the room
Got rid of + shut window
Thrown them out + fire trap
Got rid of + fire trap
hanaki: they couldn't have thrown the shoes away. We found the ashes in the room

akira: so they were left in the room. Then it's safe to assume that the glasses were still in there.

anika: there is one more important part that might help us solve this case.

hanaki: what is that?

anika: the disabled sprinklers.

noah: right. When we searched the room, we noticed that the sprinklers didn't work.

crystal: how does that help? It was clearly to make sure that the fire burned everything.

hanaki: no. . .i don't think it's that simple.

akira: it could be.

angelica: was it to hang the body?

deman: no, you dummy, the body wasn't hanging from the sprinklers.

angelica: well I'm sorry!

noah: no, I think the sprinklers were disabled to cause a panic. While we went looking for something to stop the fire, the most obvious evidence would burn down. I think the intention was to cause a panic that limited our investigation.

hanaki: limit?

akira: I get it now. The culprit must have done it to leave out evidence towards them.

hanaki: how would that leave out evidence? It only created more.

crystal: alright. So let's get this straight. The one who could have made the voodoo doll, poison pixie's water, get the poison without being noticed, mess with the body without being suspected and coming up with the idea of the trap using items no one would think of.

hanaki: there is only one person who could do all of that. Isn't that true. . .

who is the culprit?
Angelica
Kumori
Alice
Masuko
Anne
Anika
Fiona
Mikina
hanaki: isn't that right? It's you, isn't it. Anne sakaru

anne: me? Why would I kill my best friend?!

hanaki: you're the only one who could have succesfully done it all!

anne: you have no proof!

hanaki: we already gave you all the proof we found!

anne: that's all just a theorie!

hanaki: alright then. I shall sum up everything that happened!

stage 1

the culprit willingly helped us set up the party. At first, we thought nothing of it. But really, it was part of their plan to get an alibi.

the culprit stayed in the kitchen to help make the dough for the pastries. Even if we were to assume that the culprit did it, we'd come to the conclusion that the food was poisoned.

after we all left to go to bed for the night, the culprit went ahead and prepare for the plan, collecting the rope and the gasoline before going to bed.

--------------------------------

after that, they went to the victim's bottle, which was set to the side and poisoned it. They did that right before returning to the kitchen, purposefully leaving the empty bottle there.

during the party, they continued to serve food and drinks just as planned.

i think I missed something?
After the morning announcement played, they went straight to the nursery and took the poison
Right after the morning announcement, they came to meet up with us, already having the poison
Right after the morning announcement, they went to meet up with us. After someone was injured, they went to the nursery and took the poison
Right before the morning announcement, they went and grabbed the poison before meeting up with the rest of us.
stage 2

as the party went on, the culprit made sure that the victim drank the poisoned water. Knowing the poison would take effect slowly, they continued to watch the victim until the end of the party.

once we all returned to our own rooms, the culprit joined the victim to her room. They made sure that the victim died of the poison before taking out the gasoline and rope. They tied the rope around the victim's neck and hanging her from the ceiling.

--------------------------------------------

after they finished doing that, they made a crappy voodoo doll to make sure we'd think someone else framed them. The placed the doll at the scene and placed the shoes and glasses near where the fire would start.

i missed something.
Next, they got the string and wrapped it around the victim
After that, they took the gasoline and covered both the victim and the floor with it
They grabbed the gasoline and threw it all over the floor to make sure the room would be set on fire
final stage

one of the final parts of their plan was to set the final trap. The culprit took the string from pixie's sewing kit and set the trap. They made sure everything was tight and perfect.

they then lit the lighter and grabbed some spare needles. The culprit made sure to shut the window tight and leave no evidence that pointed straight at them.

-------------------------------------

after that, the culprit went to their room. Once we all finished cleaning up the party, we all went back to our rooms. that's  when we realized the strange scent in the air. We tried to open the door, figuring where it came from.

akira grabbed one of his trusty guns and shot the door knob to loosen it and open the door. In shock, we all stood there until the room suddenly lit on fire. Right as the announcement played. We started to try and calm the fire. the  others joined up with us and helped. Including the culprit.

they did all this to make us think it was a locked murder mystery, and to give themselves an alibi.

i think I missed something. . .
The culprit left the room and made sure that the door was closed all the way
The culprit went out and sut the door. They returned to where they got the gasoline and the lighter and made sure to lock those doors
The culprit left the room. They made sure the door was shut tight before locking the door from the outside.
They left the room, leaving the scene as they prepared it
hanaki: and that's what happened! Isn't that right? you, the only one who could have done all that, are the culprit, anne sakaru!

anne: . . . . . .

akira: I don't want to believe that someone killed their own best friend.

noah: there is no other conclusion that makes sense.

fiona: anne. .

alice:  why . . .?

mikina: how could you?

crystal: why did you do it?

anne: alright!  time to take down this stupid mask of mine!. yes I did it!

kumori: why?

anne: because I COULDN'T HOLD BACK ANYMORE

fiona: what?  . . .

anne: I couldn't not kill! I don't have any other reason!

hanaki: not even your motive?

anne: no one cares about a stupid motive! I just felt like killing. So that's what I did!

conna: now then. If everyone is ready. Cast your votes!

and before we knew it, we had all voted. Even anne voted for herself.

conna: now then! If we're all ready! It's punishment time! Are you ready?!
Yes
No
What does being ready mean?
conna: well then. I've prepared a very special punishment for anne sakaru! The ultimate doll maker! Let's give  it everything we've got! weeeeeeeee!

and with that, conna pressed the massive button in front of her.

anne sakaru's punishment

human doll.

a rope came out of a dark hallway and wraps around anne's waist. It pulls her into a large room where rope wraps around her wrists and ankles. Huge needles and thick thread is used to make anne look like a doll.

akira: and just like that. . .we lost 2 people. . .

no one spoke for 2 minutes at least. Those of us who weren't strong enough burst out in tears. and. . . .me. . .
I cry
I stay quiet
I shout in rage
I scream in fear
I can't say anything and stand there shaking
Am I supposed to choose one?
I would laugh.
