Situational Assessment 1

The venue is roughly 90 minutes away from your location. You’re using your Map App to navigate. Roughly 45 minutes into the drive, some guy cuts you off, forcing you to slam on the breaks and spill coffee all over your phone. Your phone is now unusable. What do you do?

You arrive at a city venue and realize that it’s all street parking. You’re looking for a place to temporarily park and load in your gear but there are no spots available within 8 blocks. If you temporarily park in the middle of the street, you will be blocking all other cars from using that street. What do you do?

The ceremony starts at 5pm. Your Map App tells you that the venue is 1 hour away and since you know this venue, you decide to leave at 2pm instead of 1pm. 30 minutes into the drive, there is a 4 car collision on the highway. Your commute is now 2 1/2 hours, leaving you only 30 minutes to load in, set up an outdoor ceremony, outdoor cocktails and an indoor reception. You know this isn’t possible. What do you do?

You arrive to the venue nice and early. You drive right up to the front door where they allow you to load in effortlessly. You turn the car off and throw your flashers on to let the venue know you’ll only be there for a few minutes. You load in, set up and sound check with no problems. Roughly 30 minutes before the ceremony is set to begin, someone from the venue asks you to move your car. You realize you completely forgot to park it! You go to turn the car on and but it won’t start up. The flashers juiced your battery. The venue is insistent that you move your car ASAP. What do you do?

You load in, set up and sound check nice and early. Everything is good to go. Roughly 5 minutes into the ceremony, you hear a persistent loud thumping on the wireless mic and realize there must be some kind of signal interference that wasn’t present during sound check. The interference is so loud that you can’t even hear what the officiant is saying. It is completely distracting and everyone is looking at you to fix the problem. What do you do?

You arrive at the venue nice and early. The venue already has a table set up for in the corner of the room. You set up and sound check with no issues. A half an hour before the ceremony is set to begin, the mother of the bride approaches you and is furious about how you set up. She is convinced that your “ugly” speakers are going to ruin the photos for when the bride walks down the aisle. She demands that you tear down your gear and set it up where it is more out of site. What do you do?

It’s 11pm and the guests are having a great time on the dance floor. Some guy approaches you and is absolutely hammered. He demands that you play a song on the couples’ Do Not Play List. You politely dismiss him but this really pisses him off. He is now threatening you. What do you do?

The father of the bride is the one who paid for the DJ. Later in the night, he demands that you play a song on the bride’s Do Not Play List. What do you do?
