The path to freedom

You come to a set of doors at the start of your path. Each has a different style and design, but there is no light coming out from any of the doors. None of them seem dangerous, but there's a feeling of restlessness around them. Which do you open?

As you step through the door, a wave of cool air washes over you. The path is dimly lit, narrow, and with only one path heading forward. After walking for what feels like ages you are meet with a table holding five objects on it. Which do you take?

Near the table there is a set of boxes, each labeled with a card. Behind it is a door that will not open no matter how hard you try. It's clear the key to open the door is to place the item you picked from the table into a box. Which box do you choose?

As the item is placed in the box, a bright light pours out of the container before shutting, unable to be opened again. Slowly, the door opens exposing another pathway. This time the hallway is much shorter and branches out into five different paths. Down each hall you can hear something in the distance, but the darkness prevents you from seeing what it is. Which path do you take?

While walking down the path, there are pictures plastered on the wall. Each of them are identical, but none of them can be removed. When looking at them, they bring about a feeling of familiarity. What do you see?

You reach out and touch the picture, sending ripples across the frame. Suddenly, the image is changing, turning into a screen that plays a home movie behind it. What is playing?

Your feet pound down the halls, but even the sound of them hitting the ground does little to drown out the sound of the movie playing. Over and over, each screen plays the same moment even as you approach the end of the hall. A dead end. On the wall there is a blank canvas and a paintbrush dipped in water. With no other options out, you place the brush on the canvas, and as the water touches the fibers they change color. What color did you receive?

As the paint covers the canvas, the sounds of the screens around you begins to quiet. A loud creaking sound can be heard from the end of the hall and soon after footsteps begin to echo. Something is approaching you, slowly at first but the steps become quicker shortly after. As fast as you're able, you cover the canvas with water until the whole thing is covered in color, revealing an opening behind it. Tearing the painting to shreds, you pull out a weapon to defend yourself. What do you have?

The figure approaches, and as it steps out of the shadows you gasp as you see who it is. Standing there is a copy of yourself, corrupted by the darkness and shadow within your heart. It's clear that there's no getting around the other you, and that in order to proceed you have to use the weapon to kill your shadow. As you strike, what do you feel?

Blood splatters across the walls, causing the frames hanging on the wall to crack and shatter, yet the cracks continue to the walls behind them. Pieces fall off, leaving nothingness behind them as your world begins to fade. With a jolt, you wake from your dream, heart racing and body clammy. Already the events of the dream are fading from your memory, and as you struggle to hold onto the pieces, there's only a phrase that continuously pops into your mind. What do you remember?
