What's the difference between sponsorship and a donation?
Nothing, it's just semantics
Not much, but I think the Local Government Act treats each differently
Sponsorship is a business transaction in which the sponsor provides a financial contribution or value in-kind, to support an event, project, service or activity, in return for negotiated commercial and other benefits from the sponsee. A donation is similar to a gift rather than a business transaction.
