This is a harmless Watersnake (non-venomous)
This is a venomous Cottonmouth
This is a venomous Copperhead
This is a Coral Rattler Moccamouth (Knows hypnosis. Never look directly into it's eyes!)
What evidence supports that this is NOT a Cottonmouth? (Choose all that apply)
1. It has vertical stripes
2. It doesn't have a "zorro" mask
3. It did not have a "eyebrow" ridge/scale/shelf
4. It was on leaves, not in a lake or stream

This is a harmless Watersnake (non-venomous)
This is a venomous Cottonmouth
This is a venomous Water Moccasin
This is a 3-fanged Pigmy Cottontail Python Rattler (you only have to worry about that THIRD fang)
What things helped indicate this snake from the last question was not a Cottonmouth? (choose all that apply)
1. Those vertical stripes again
2. "I thought I saw a 'hersey's kisses' pattern, but the kisses were upside down
3. The hue of brown is too copper colored
Simple deduction. Cotton Mouth= Water Moccasin. And a Cottontail is a bunny. That only left one choice.
Not feeling challenged enough? I'm admittedly pretty tough. But just look at my menacing triangle head!

What things should you do if you are unsure what type of snake you are looking at?
Kill it, pose it on a rake and dangle it in front of the camera so that it looks really big, post the picture on facebook, and then hang it by your mailbox. Just exclaim "I thought it was a copperhead" if the DNR official starts writing you a ticket.
Start screaming "Cottonmouth! Cottonmouth! OMG it's a Cottonmouth!"
Remember Red on Black, wait now how does that go? Red on black no yellow no wait.. Red on lime, better check your rhyme?? Wait circular eyes, no um, triangle head, um...
If close, slowly back away. Encourage the snake to move along with a gentle squirt from a hose, or seek assistance having it relocated. Take a picture and visit https://tinyurl.com/SnakeIdentification to ask for a quick and easy expert identification, 24-7
