If two players are being kept and both are of the round you would lose that round plus the higher round. Example: you trade for a player who was drafted in the 6th and you keep a player you drafted in the 6th you would lose your 5th and 6th round picks the following year.

If a drafted player is dropped and someone "Claims" player they take on the existing "contract/years" players been kept. If a player is dropped and no one claims that player, the player becomes a FA and if picked up, the 3 year count resets.
