Specific learning difficulties

Dyslexia is the most common specific learning difficulty.

In the population, there are about 15-20% of people with SLD.

Specific learning difficulties are a result of a lack of motivation.

Children with SLD are stupid; their problems are caused by lower intelligence.

Specific learning difficulties are not hereditary. There doesn’t exist a genetic predisposition for the origin of these difficulties.

Children with SLD will grow out of it. As they get older, their problems will disappear.

A specific learning disability is a disorder that interferes with a student's ability to listen, think, speak, write, spell, or do mathematical calculations while general learning disability is a reduced intellectual ability and difficulty with everyday activities.
