Scenario 1:
 
A child disrespects you in front of the whole class.
 
When Taha walks out, the rest of the class starts laughing and creating chaos. You are embarrassed and unsure about how to deal with this situation.
 
What is your strategy in this situation?
You stop the class and go after him to talk privately and discuss what the matter is and how you can help him.
You wait till the class ends and then go find him to discuss the matter and clarify what may have triggered such a response.
You understand that children act out and choose to ignore his behavior. Instead, you report it directly to the Principal and the Internship Heads.
You wait till the next day where you call him out in front of the whole class and use him as an example to teach the rest of the class a lesson on respect.

What is your strategy in this situation?

Laugh off the situation and give the children the day off.
Stress out and call the Internship heads crying because you are unable to handle the situation.
You incentivize them with an activity at the end of class if they settle down and finish the lesson.

Scenario 2: Understanding your students and being there for them


You are in the middle of teaching an important module to the class that covers a tricky subject that is difficult to grasp. Ismail, a student, comes up to you and says “I don’t understand this at all! This is all new to me and I don’t know what to do”.


How would you assist Ismail in understanding the topic better?

Provide him with exercises that focus on that specific topic and make sure that you try to understand the exact problem he is facing.
Revisit the entire module with the entire class so everyone can understand it better while not focusing on Ismail himself.
Tell him to go read the textbook by himself again and if he faces any more issues he should solve them by himself.
Tell the class to pay more attention and not to be like Ismail
After the class has ended, you notice a few students go up to Ismail and start bullying him for not understanding the module. Ismail starts to cry but the bullies do not stop.
 
How do you deal with the bullies in this scenario?
Have a session the next day with the class on why bullying is bad
Step in to stop the bullies from bullying Ismail and comfort Ismail about how it is normal to not always understand something.
Do nothing about it and walk away.
Inform the principal and allow them to the take action towards the bullies

Scenario 3: Trouble with your fellow Intern
 
You show up to class to find out that your fellow intern Minaal has not shown up to teach the class with you.
Minaal was a favorite amongst the students in your class during the first week, but has not been showing up for the past few days. The students refuse to learn from you and demand that they will only study if Minaal comes and teaches them.
 
How will you convince the students to remain calm and proceed with the lesson?
You get strict with them and threaten them with a punishment if they do not study and start the lesson.
You make an excuse to cover for Minaal’s absence, and promise them that she will come back tomorrow, even though you are not sure she will.
You ask the SOP heads to change the section assigned to you, since them not wanting to be taught by you is very demotivating, and you feel you will be able to better teach in an environment where you feel wanted.
You try to pacify them with an activity since they are clearly not motivated for the lesson, in the hopes to show them that you are also just as friendly as Minaal and gain their acceptance.
Minaal continues to miss classes the rest of the week, and you have heard from another intern that apparently she does not want to work with you.
You are confused about the situation and want to reach out to Minaal.
 
How do you go about approaching her?
You get angry and text her to confront her about why she has been saying such stuff to other interns and tell her that it’s extremely disrespectful.
You are concerned and contact her in a respectable manner, and try to clarify any issue she may have with you, and convince her to rejoin.
You report the situation to the SOP heads and complain about Minaal’s unprofessional behavior. You ask them to change your assigned intern group/module so that you don’t have to work with her either.
You get defensive in front of the intern who informed you about Minaal, and instead start spreading rumors about how lazy she has been
