All workers have the rights to paid holiday ("orlof" in Icelandic).

When on a fixed monthly wage, one has a minimum of 24 days of holiday per year when working 100%. The monthly wage is paid out as normal when on holiday.

If the worker is not on a fixed monthly wage (for example with shift work) a holiday allowance of 10.17% is added to the wages. This holiday allowance is either paid out monthly or once a year (usually around April / May) and you can find it as "orlof" on your payslip
